General Description

The Editor and Designer will primarily assist with editing, revising, and producing a broad variety of professional documents such as articles, manuals, blog posts, and other publications. Secondarily, graphic design and PowerPoint skills will be required to create visually engaging concepts such as logos, advertisements, promotional and branding assets, communication media, and other print and digital materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

Use word processing software and text management systems to edit and prepare copy for manuscripts and presentations
Edit publications according to specifications for style, tone, and length, while also ensuring correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
Assist writers with selecting and finalizing artwork, photography, and text for reproduction
Ensure articles, manuals, proposals, and other publications meet style, formatting, and general quality standards
Ensure publications are completed on time and within applicable budget constraints
Perform other related duties as assigned
Collaborate with client, editorial staff, manager, art director, and/or other project participants to understand project assignment, audience, and intended message
Create original visual media that communicates the desired feeling or message in an engaging and unified way
Choose graphics, clip art, and stock photography, as appropriate; may enhance choices with simple drawings
Prepare drafts of design work and provide samples to editorial or other appropriate staff or departments for review
Revise projects as necessary based on collaborative feedback process
Consult with graphics manager, art director, and/or other team members as needed on complex or specialized projects
Perform other related duties as assigned.


Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficient with text management and desktop publishing software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite or other similar design software
Ability to work independently on an assignment
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or related field required; graduate degree preferred
Major or significant experience in Art, Graphic Design, or related disciplines
At least three years of related work experience highly preferred

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
