Copysmith is a high-growth, early stage startup building a revolutionary set of AI tools to enable small businesses to compete with larger companies. The unique challenges in serving natural language machine output to a business-savvy audience bring a host of interesting design challenges. You'll be thinking about AI-human interaction as well as human-in-the-loop systems.

We're still a super small team, so everyone gets to work on impactful problems and wear many hats. You will play a crucial role in designing a product used by customers, as well as ensuring usability and delight. You'll work together with engineers and growth to iterate on the project. Example projects include customer tools to serve generated text, integrations into e-commerce workflows, and marketing campaigns. You will be a crucial part of making a typically boring, frustrating experience magical.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and develop design solutions from ideation to execution.
  • Assist in the definition and scoping of new product MVPs.
  • Work directly with the product and engineering teams to develop new product features that deliver meaningful experiences.
  • Talk to prospects and potential users to validate concepts and develop thoughtful solutions.
  • Collaborate with other designers to give and receive thoughtful feedback on creative work.
  • Deliver high-fidelity assets for new products and services.
  • Obsessively refine every interaction and visual design detail.
  • Present and explain design ideas and concepts with confidence.
  • Create and define design systems and components that will allow for the continued development of new features in an efficient and consistent manner.

  • 3+ years professional design experience. Ideally: you've designed web applications that have reached a large audience, potentially while the product is experiencing rapid growth.
  • Ability to take lead and own one’s own tasks and projects from start to finish.
  • Excellent communication skills — we’re an entirely remote team.
  • Experience in UX research methods. You think holistically: Your considerations go beyond aesthetics and include thinking about what's most effective for serving user needs, what's best for the business, and how to balance speed and craft.
  • Genuine curiosity and a strong desire to continuously learn and grow.
  • The ability to create prototypes, and proven experience creating high-fidelity designs using tools such as Figma, Adobe, or other tools.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates the above.
  • Bonus: You're fluent with programming in HTML/CSS, or even React.

Even if you don’t meet all the above qualifications, you should still consider applying if you’re passionate about what we do. We value genuine interest and believe in your growth potential!

What We Value

Push the team, be honest in your assessment. Know where you need to improve and help move the team in the right direction with clear data.

Push hard to build processes and systems that help produce positive results faster. You don't have to know all the answers to make a decision. Learn and iterate.

We expect our work to produce positive results for our team members and customers. We create an environment that drives positive results by encouraging constant experimentation and providing the necessary resources and infrastructure to win.

Benefits include (but definitely not limited to):

  • Health/dental insurance
  • Book and learning stipend
  • Unlimited vacation and sick leave
  • Wellness stipend
  • Home office stipend
  • An awesome team

We're committed to building a diverse, inclusive, safe, and anti-racist workplace for all.
