Why this opportunity exists

The DevOps Engineer will build, scale, and maintain the underlying infrastructure used by Maven Central- the primary open-source publication, discovery, and delivery platform for the Java ecosystem.


• Ensure availability, security, and health of the Maven Central platform. • Proactively manage delivery of software components from Maven Central, including reporting usage & costs, abuse detection and prevention, and CDN configuration. • Manage services that support the Central Repository: • • • Sonatype’s internal component ingestion pipeline. • Support new development and implementation of user-facing services.

Additional requirements (other than skills)

• Strong understanding of Linux/UNIX systems, including configuration management, automation, and scripting experience. • Expertise in modern technical operating practices: continuous integration/deployment, infrastructure as code, ephemeral infrastructure, cloud-service integration, service level objectives and other SRE principles/practices. • Knowledge of web and CDN technologies at scale, including caching configuration, log analysis, abuse detection, and prevention. • Familiarity with the Java open source development ecosystem and practices. • Familiarity with AWS technologies including: Cloudwatch Logs, S3, and ECS.
