NDWA Labs’ La Alianza media venture and chatbot puts vital information and resources directly into the hands of cleaners, nannies and home care workers. Launched as an experiment, La Alianza grew quickly to more than 200K domestic worker subscribers. We are looking for a Research and Analytics Director as we grow La Alianza in size and impact, and to lead a new initiative to use the chatbot to conduct original and accurate market and working condition research. You’re a seasoned researcher and analyst who wants to roll up your sleeves to help build something great. You combine academic curiosity and training, with business analytics chops. You love finding the story in data, and working collaboratively to test hypotheses and share learnings. You are rigorous about accuracy. You can translate research into lucid, compelling prose and graphics. You are comfortable with a hands-on role where you not only design studies but execute them, and help build and improve the team’s analytics platforms. You are excited to work in a vibrant, women of color-led start-up and social movement environment.
You will lead research and analytics for a digital media platform that includes a chatbot, news website, facebook page and facebook groups (all in Spanish) and may expand to include other channels and languages. This position is currently funded for one year by a significant philanthropic investment and is likely to continue given successful outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Research and Experimentation: • Create tools to research domestic work markets and conditions via our chatbot and news products • Design, execute (in partnership with product team) and analyze at least one worker survey per month • Work with product team to: optimize engagement in surveys and ensure accuracy of data; segment chatbot audience to meet research and impact goals; create and test content types that share research findings back to workers • Partner with academic advisors to increase accuracy and impact of research • Draft internal and public learning reports Data Analytics: • Work closely with product team to unearth solid audience insights to fuel strategy, creative ideas, tactical plans, and product decisions • Maintain and co-design team dashboards and trackers • Oversee regular data extractions, coding, cleaning, and analysis of data (including from Chatfuel, Facebook business manager, Google Analytics, EveryAction) • Produce data, insights and reports for NDWA’s policy and field teams • Produce data, insights and reports for funders and press, in partnership with NDWA development and communications teams • Contribute to the maintenance and optimization of our backend platforms Project Management: • Ensure release of timely learning reports, including supervising design, production and distribution • Lead process for sharing team insights and research internally, including producing monthly internal learnings reports • Work with leadership to design and ensure participation in Labs-wide internal dashboard and impact evaluation tools
• 5+ years relevant experience in data science, data strategy, digital analytics and research • Experience managing large amounts of complex data, running quantitative queries and producing compelling visualizations • Experience using statistical software syntax • Python or other relevant programming ability highly preferred • Ability to turn complex results into a compelling narrative for a non-technical audience • Have served as author on published research reports, preferably in social sector • Project or product management experience a plus • Spanish-language ability preferred • A commitment to advancing progressive social change
