Minimum Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience designing interactions and online experiences
  • Master’s degree in user experience, design, research, journalism, communication or a related field
  • 1 year of experience with/knowledge of responsive design and the user-centered design process
  • Solid foundation of color, space and typography
  • Strong knowledge of web UI standards and best practices

Job Summary

The Team Leader of User Experience (UX) Design leads a team of UX designers in collaboration with User Experience, User Research, Content Design, Product Manager, Engineering and Marketing teams to drive and develop design philosophies and innovation opportunities. A key player throughout the entire development process, the Team Leader of UX Design forms the design strategy for the digital product, keeping design within the guidelines set by our various design libraries, wireframing key interactions and prototyping.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the vision, mission and purpose for the UX Design team and how it can deliver value to clients and the business through best-in-class user experiences
  • Develop and coach UX Design team members to deliver best-in-class user experiences for priority digital products to achieve business objectives
  • Set criteria and metrics for measuring the team’s success, track team member career growth and communicate progress to leadership
  • Drive a culture of excellence by presenting a positive, solution-oriented attitude within the UX Design team and as a representative to other teams, stakeholders, and partners
  • Define staffing needs with senior leadership and interview and hire new team members
  • Lead the team to work closely with product managers, business leads, engineers, and fellow experience strategy and design team members to define requirements and success criteria for key company initiatives and how user design can help achieve them
  • Coach team members on how to develop user flows, wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes for rapid, iterative user interface definition and improvement
  • Communicate and coach other team members on how to communicate UX design recommendations clearly with high-quality artifacts to product managers, business stakeholders, writers, designers and engineers
  • Communicate changes in strategic direction to the UX Design team based on an in-depth knowledge of business success drivers, industry and regulatory trends, and the competitive marketplace intelligence
  • Lead the team to create user-friendly visual design and ensure the on-brand user interface (UI) communicates our intended purpose
  • Receive and interpret input from UX research to help solve user problems
  • Implement design standards and ensure consistent design language is applied across products
  • Facilitate whiteboard, ideation and working sessions with the Development and Project teams
  • Conduct reviews about how clients utilize existing systems
